SHARILYN NEIDHARDT

Human Scale Chess Game in Greenwich Village

Human Scale Chess

Date: Saturday 9.19
Start Time: 2:00pm
Location: Commons Gallery, Barney building

Volunteer to be a part of the game by emailing Sharilyn: sharilyn (dot) neidhardt (at) gmail (dot) com.

In a central location, two master-level chess players will play an actual game of chess. On a selected 8-block-by-8-block section of the city, each intersection will represent a square on the chessboard, and 32 participants with cellphones and maps will mimic the moves of the pieces in the game the masters are playing. A website will host realtime updates of the chess moves and the positions of the pieces. Participants who represent the chess pieces are encouraged to costume themselves, and will be provided with a souvenir T-Shirt that indicates the piece’s color and rank.
