Artist: Hugh Davies

Connections between people are like invisible lines in the air, Hugh Davies and Analogue Art Map make these social and professional bonds materialize by bringing the act of networking in to the visible world.
MAP-Me – maps of connections
Map-Me is an interactive event and the resulting artwork a collaborative piece. Each visitor brings a picture, a business card or some other note representing themselves, and places it on the Map-Me wall with pins, tape or blue tack all of which are provided. Using coloured string participants are encouraged to connect their own note to all the notes of people they know. As the exhibition progresses the walls are filled with representations of individuals and the space comes to life with threads of connection. Referencing online networking platforms such as MySpace, linked in and Facebook this work brings virtuality back into reality, making both the act of networking, the connections and the people reappear in real time and space.

Analogue Art Map appropriates old school technologies for the purpose of highlighting current social phenomena occurring through digital technology by relocating them, placing them in the physical world.
