Flux FactoryParfyme Deluxe (CPH+NYC) challenges Flux Factory to a true-blue capitalist competition. The dueling art-enterprises will divide Flux Factory, adding Deluxe Factory. The two factories will race to out-produce and out-sell the other, each week will be a new product(s) assignment - demanding the entrepreneurs to radically alter their factories and production methods. Each collective will hit the streets to deliver their innovations, ordinary as well as illicit means of producing and distributing are up for grabs: fantastic delivery trucks, cooked books, espionage & sabotage will be just some of the tricks of the trade.

McCaig-Welles GallerySpecial event on Thursday, September 14th hosted by Next American City Magazine.Join us at the Conflux Festival help us tell the story of the next American city. While mingling, drinking and listening to some great music, we’ll all work together to create a collective art project. Starting with one person who will begin the story, each participant will add a few words, an image or a drawing. In keeping with the festival theme, the meaning of the piece will be in constant flux as participants both respond to what has come before and also lead the story in new directions. The finished project will be posted at the festival and featured in the winter of the magazine. Email festival@americancity.org for more information.
New General CatalogTwo projects curated by Trong Nguyen: Lonesome LandMary Walling Blackburn and Chris Marionetti present Lonesome Land (A Social Dance, A Vehicular Orchestra). The structure for this performance is derived from an old social practice in the West Texas desert where isolated ranchers would temporarily meet in an equidistant shared space, tune their radios to the same frequency, and dance within an area created between their trucks. The provisional and immaterial nature of this human communion guides Lonesome Land.In Lonesome Land (2007) a suite of octophonic songs have been composed for a social dance that will take place within a circle created by eight vehicles. The stereo of each vehicle will function as instrument and contribute a segment of each song. The drivers and their passengers are invited to dance along in the center, illuminated by the car headlights.Girls of the Third Situ8ionist International Summit (G3SIS)This is a closed event held in conjunction with Conflux, and while no one in New York will actually witness the event, half way across the globe the summit will be broadcast as a radio transmission to Berlin’s super bien! (Greenhouse for Contemporary Art) as part of Nguyen’s month-long program there.
Riviera GalleryDuring the Conflux Festival, Riviera Gallery will turn its space into an artist’s interpretation of a real estate agency called “Riviera Real Estate”, comprised of a full real estate office set as well as improv actors acting the part of Real Estate agents. Through Riviera Real Estate, we are choosing to comment on the current state of extreme development in the Williamsburg area through satire. Once a haven for struggling artists, Williamsburg is going the way of Soho and could soon be devoid of artists and galleries which makes the installation of Riviera Real Estate a more poignant statement.
