Project Description::

The Back-to-Back Massager is a battery powered mobile massaging vest. Instead of massaging the wearer, the electric massagers are pointed outward in order to massage others. The wearer is able to give a massage to others by pressing her back against theirs. Massages are generally thought of as intimate and can even be sensual. The vest invites social interaction but is electronically mediated. The vest removes much of the physical intimacy from the massage but also allows the wearer to more comfortably give massages to strangers. With the vest, the wearer can help anyone relieve stress and reduce pain. At Conflux, we will use the vest to give free massages to anyone who would like one, wandering the streets looking for interested participants.
