Conflux 2008 Dates Announced
Conflux 2008 will take place September 11–14 in New York. This will be our 5th anniversary [!!!] and we have exciting plans in the works. We’ll open submissions in the early spring. If you’d like to volunteer or intern with us, don’t be shy. We look forward to seeing you in the fall.

Cryptic Providence
North Burial Ground

Cryptic Providence announces an open call to artists and performers to participate in a summer long exhibition and performance series in North Burial Ground, opening June 13, 2008. Directed by artist Jay Critchley, the project is soliciting proposals from visual artists, photographers, poets, writers, dancers, actors, historians, musicians, hip hop and spoken word performers, new media artists, filmmakers and cultural organizations.
Application deadline April 1, 2008; opens June 13. Tours and project details on February 23 and March 1 at 1:00 at North Burial Ground.
Cryptic Providence is funded by a New Works grant from the Rhode Island Foundation and sponsored by the City of Providence Parks Department and the Department of Art, Culture & Tourism, and AS220. Cryptic Providence will open Friday, June 13.
Artists are asked to examine and interpret the history of North Burial Ground, established in 1700, and burial practices in relation to the rich history of Rhode Island. To apply:
- A one page written proposal with requested location, time and technical requirements
- Resume
- Documentation of work (one of the following): DVD (five minutes), CD or photographs − up to 10 images, with descriptive list of images or video; OR, five to ten pages of text (poetry, narrative, drama, lyrics)
- A stamp, self-addressed envelope for return of material (small stipends available).

Cryptic Providence hopes to:

- Increase visitation and use of the cemetery
