Festival Co-Founder and Director:

Christina RayChristina Ray is an independent curator and festival producer based in Brooklyn, NY. In 2002 she launched Glowlab as her platform for presenting site-specific art and technology projects and nurturing the cutting-edge work of artists inspired by urban life. Ray’s current projects include her role as founder and director of Conflux, the annual art and technology festival for the creative exploration of urban public space.

Conflux Advisory Team:

Mike Brown—Michael Brown works with Virgin USA, the North American investment arm of the Virgin Group. He is responsible for starting new companies in North America for Virgin with a special focus on gaming, media, technology and digital media. In addition, Michael is responsible for evaluating many of Virgin USA’s unbranded investments (Corporate VC) with a particular focus on consumer facing internet and software companies. Prior to Virgin USA, Brown was with Morgan Stanley. He began his career working in a variety of start-ups, namely FitFuel.com and Pop Company Media (sold to Warner). He graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University.

Dave Mandl [Conflux Co-Founder]—Dave Mandl is a writer, radio producer (WFMU), music editor at the Brooklyn Rail, and amateur linguist, among other things.  During the day he leads a shadowy existence as a tech geek at a Wall Street investment bank.

Leslie McBeth—Leslie has been working for non-profit organizations in Canada, England, Switzerland and New York City for the past seven years. She began her career in development, communications and event planning with NGOs at the United Nations Geneva, Switzerland, before transferring to New York City. In 2006, Leslie found herself under the City’s spell and so she joined the team at Design Trust for Public Space. Here, she organizes fundraising events, writes grants, assists with programs, and conducts outreach to improve New York City’s vital public spaces. Leslie holds an Honors B.A. in Art History & English from McMaster University and a Professional Certificate in Arts Administration from New York University. Inspired by the possibility of using the city as a canvas and its citizens as a muse, Leslie is thrilled to be assisting with fundraising and outreach for the 2008 Conflux festival.

Jeffrey Barke—Jeffrey Barke is the senior developer and information architect at theMechanism - New York where he oversees all aspects of application development. He is firmly committed to standards-based development and the open source ethos.

Gilbert Guerrero

Christy Gurga—Christy Gurga, designer and programmer at theMechanism - New York, specializes in front-end web site construction using W3C standards-compliant HTML and CSS.
