The wi-fi network at Conflux HQ will feature a community portal page offering Conflux info [including latest additions/changes], a chat 'backchannel,' real-time tagfeeds, rss feeds, and who-knows-what else. Come learn how to "grow your own" virtual sound garden in urban public space.
What:
A workshop walking you through the steps for setting up and configuring a Sound Garden in your area.
Topics to be covered include:
+ Stumbling for WiFi access points and creating a location database.
+ Working with the Placelab API (http://www.placelab.org) for privacy-compliant location-based applications.
+ Installing and configuring the TSG software platform.

Journey to the End of the Night has just launched a mini-site for their Conflux project: sf0.org/journey. Play the game on Saturday night, starting at 7pm.
Make Do and Mend is a project by UK-based artist Hilary Jack. During her stay in New York, Hilary will attempt to repair or rejuvenate discarded objects she has found around Williamsburg. Between 3 and 5pm on Saturday, September 15th, the resulting repaired objects can be viewed on a walking tour by collecting a map from HQ at McCaig Welles Gallery. You are also welcome to bring your own objects found en route to the gallery to repair or rejuvenate in some way with the help of the artist.
The Pansy Project is currently seeking locations where verbal homophobic abuse has been experienced in NYC. Please e-mail the artist with locations across New York where pansies can be planted, photographed, titled after the abuse received and then posted on the Pansy Project website. Come to Conflux HQ on Sunday 09.17, 11am–1pm to receive your own pansy distributed by the artist Paul Harfleet to plant your own pansy at the location.
